MAKEUP BRUSHES 101: WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW TO PICK THE RIGHT BRUSHES

makeup brush anatomy

Today's Tip Tuesday teaches us all about the anatomy of Makeup Brushes. I know most of you (myself included) slept through anatomy class but this is totally different. Last week went through How to Clean Your Makeup Brushes & seems that many of you requested a more in depth look at what makes up a makeup brush.

Makeup Brushes can be made using 2 types of bristles - Natural (animal) or synthetic (nylon, taklon or other manmade fibers) hairs. Natural bristles are best with powder products-- gives a more natural and flawless finish. Synthetic bristles are best with liquid & cream products.

The aluminium part that connects the handle & the bristles is called the Ferrule. The glue inside is what holds the makeup brush together, so be sure to handle with care.

The handle of the brush can come in many different materials including wood, plastic & acrylic. My Makeup Brushes are all made using wood handles as they are the best material which provide the best grip for use when applying products.
