Why You Need To Start Using Two Mascaras

Best Practices for Layering Mascara | My Makeup Brushes

Two Tubes Are Better Than One.

If you're anything like me, you have countless lipsticks and even more mascara tubes stashed in your makeup drawer. From lengthening to thickening to curling to defining to water-proof, there's a formula for every occasion. Some people have trouble picking out their daily outfits, I have that problem with my mascara; decisions, decisions. I mean think about it, your inner lashes need a little lift whereas your outer lashes need some length and volume. Just like that you understand why two mascaras are better than one. Chances are, you are applying mascara the exact same way every single day and it works pretty well. We're here to help you up-level your eye game; teach you how to mix and match formulas, wands, even shades. After all, long dreamy lashes are a feature that never go out of style.

Long, Lifted Lashes

Start with your eyelash curler, squeeze shut for five seconds and pulse for five seconds to get that perfect curl. First apply a mascara with curling formula that lifts and curls the lashes at the same time. While applying the mascara, best practice is to wiggle, wiggle, wiggle upwards. Next, grab your lengthening mascara to really stretch and separate your lashes. I love to use a mascara with a spiky head to really get into the lashes and pull them out and upward.

Bold, Voluminous Lashes

For eyes you can't stop staring at, pick a colored formula to finish off your look. Start with an eyelash curler again, getting to that same perfect curl. Apply a blacker than black curling mascara, same as above (Benefit Cosmetics Roller Lash Curler Mascara (Shop Now)). Here's where it gets fun, press a burgundy shade onto just the tip of your lashes to bring attention to your eyes.

Ultra-Natural Lashes

If you're looking for a daytime, tone down lash look, apply brown mascara to both your top and bottom lashes to make your eyes look more naturally defined. Start with a lengthening mascara for a defined, eye-catching effect. Finish off the look with a brown, waterproof formula to seal it and give you the confidence of a smudge-free all day look.
