How to Transition Your Makeup and Skin from Summer to Fall

Summer to Fall Makeup Transition | My Makeup Brushes

Bring on the PSL. We're ready for you.

Labor Day passed. The season is officially changing and so should your beauty routine. The same way you pack away your bathing suits, shorts, and summer wardrobe, now is the perfect time to change your makeup bag from summer to fall. Autumn brings cooler weather otherwise known as sweater weather! With the cooler, humid, dry, stale air comes even drier skin. Not only is it important to change up your makeup routine but it is equally, if not more important to adjust your skin care routine. Don't worry, we've got you covered.

Tinted moisturizers were so great during the summer but now that fall is here, we're going to be adding something a bit creamer to our makeup bag. If you were using a powder formula in the summer, try switching to a cream based formula to help accommodate dryer skin.

Yes, you went natural all summer but it's berry season now. You obviously don't need to abandon those neutral, fun summer colors but updating and adding to your makeup bag is so much, why deprive yourself of that? For some added fun, try layering a deep colored gloss over your usual summer shade. If you're more of a fall person, well then, go crazy! Nothing screams fall more than a vampy lip color.

Now that your tan is fading and you're losing some of that beautiful redness you achieved in your cheeks from the sun exposure, it's time to change up your blush, bronzer, highlighter routine. Be more strategic about where you're placing your bronzer and blush. Blush on the apples of your cheeks make them look rosy and will give you that summer flush look. Remember, a little goes a long way.

As the day gets shorter and the sun begins to set earlier and earlier, it's normal for you to get a little moody. Why not transition that into your shades? I love looking for the cashmere, suede textures to really bring in that fall feeling. When it comes to eyeliner, you can never go wrong with black. Finding a deep colored matte eyeliner is another way to bring fall into your routine, especially when you're looking to go the extra mile.

Say goodbye to your lightweight moisturizers and bulk up on a thicker more hydrating formula. Add a body lotion to your daily mix. Moisturizers provide your skin with a protective barrier allowing you to stay hydrated and avoid that itchy, dry feeling. Don't over-exfoliate. Exfoliating more than once a week will just cause your skin to be even more dehydrated but if you must, opt for glycolic treatment pads or a mask once a week to remove any discoloration that happened during the summer months.
