TOP BEAUTY SECRETS FROM MAKEUP ARTISTS TO UP-LEVEL YOUR MAKEUP GAME

We know you watch beauty bloggers and vloggers do their thing all day every day. No need to hide from us, we're probably doing the same thing. If we didn't know any better, we would believe that these makeup artists are blessed with a little magic. But is it really magic, or is it just insider information they're keeping from us? Definitely a little of both, so we've decided to pull back the curtain a little bit and shed some light on some pro tricks that will seriously take your makeup game up a notch. These tricks are industry secrets that made us feel like insiders when we learned about them. Like we've gained access to membership in the 'makeup artists only' club. Give these hacks a try. You won't be sorry.

Preparation.

Prepping before makeup is the most important step. It's a mistake to think that if you have oily skin, you don't need moisturizer. If you tend to get shiny, apply moisturizer like normal and then blot it with a tissue before applying your foundation to remove excess. The secret to flawless foundation is blending; never stop at your jawline, make sure to blend down your neck, ears and hairline.

Texture.

When playing with eye shadows, makeup artists almost never stick to one texture. Incorporating matte, shimmer, and metallic helps create dimension and tricks the eye so it doesn't look flat.

Lift.

When applying blush, bronzer, even eyeshadow, always apply upwards and out. Every woman wants to have a little lift on her face. Also, to give you that 'glow from within' look, some makeup artist start by applying a cream bronzer, blush and/or highlighter underneath a lightweight foundation.

Mix.

Don't be afraid to combine products. Mixing foundation with moisturizer is an easy way to lighten your coverage options. Mixing a touch of loose powder with your foundation will make it thicker. Have fun. Play with consistencies. For a luminous skin effect, mix your foundation with a golden or even a pearly eye shadow.
